Ways to donate to Habitat for Humanity,Valley of the Sun

Habitat for Humanity, Valley of the Sun is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All contributions are tax deductible. For more than 25 years Habitat for Humanity has helped people build much more than just homes- we have built dreams. Thanks to gifts from generous friends like you, the dream of home ownership is coming true for families across Maricopa County.

ReStore

You can donate gently used and/or surplus household items, building, and home improvement materials. Donated items are sold at a 50% or more discount below retail value. The profits from these sales are then used to further the mission of Habitat for Humanity, Valley of the Sun. (click here for more information about the ReStore.)

Cash Donations

Thanks to the Arizona charitable tax credit law, state taxpayers now have more incentive to make cash donations to qualified charitable organizations such as HfH, Valley of the Sun. Contributions up to $400 may earn a dollar-for dollar tax credit on Arizona income tax. Cash contribution will receive a formal thank you letter, which can serve as a donation receipt for tax purposes.

Stock Gifts

With over 60% of Americans owning securities, it is no wonder more and more people are giving stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. By giving securities, donors can often benefit from tax savings that may allow them to give more at no greater cost.

Gifts of appreciated securities may be donated for a tax deduction of the current value of the security (the date it is transferred).

Call our office for information about transferring securities electronically -- a simple, effective way to donate those appreciated shares.

Gifts of Property

The only way we can build more Habitat homes is to have the property to build it on! Property can be given in a number of ways. Mortgages may be donated; physical property may be donated as well as raw land. Each gift will be accepted after a review of the circumstances surrounding the proposed gift.

Habitat has also received gifts from Gift Annuities, In-Kind Donations, Life Insurance Policies, and more.

Planned Giving

You can continue your support of Habitat for Humanity in your will by choosing to give: a percentage of your estate, a specific amount, specific property, or part or the entire residue of your estate.

Cars for Homes

Donated cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, RVs and other vehicles are sold and the funds raised help build simple, decent homes in partnership with low-income families. Donors receive an acknowledgement letter for their vehicle donation they may use for tax purposes if they itemize deductions. Vehicle, title and contact information is collected, and upon acceptance of the vehicle, arrangements are made for the vehicle, keys and title to be picked up.
